Coffee Rub Steak

This is a very tasty rub which delivers a delicious unique flavour and also leaves your steaks with a lovely bark. Combine the ingredients below , thoroughly rub into your steaks ( I’m partial to a good 2″ thick ribeye myself) and leave for about an hour to marinate into the meat. Cook to you liking , rest and serve.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp ground coffee
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander

    1. Hi Lisa, i would always prefer to grill my steaks over a bbq but a pan fried steak can also be just fine. Regardless of which you use I highly reccomend the reverse sear method , cook the steak in the oven at a low temperature (80-90°C) until about 5°C below your desired finish, Then quickly sear on the grill or a hot pan about 40 seconds a side to form a nice crust , rest for 2-3 minutes and serve.

        1. So I made this last night, grilled then fried (grilled as I didn’t read the instructions properly, and didn’t have a thermometer but estimated! 😋) and it turned out great. Really sharp strong flavour!! I would make it again with plain potato wedges/veg so that the flavour of the steak is the star of the show. Delicious!!

          1. Thats great to hear Lisa, love to hear creative feedback like this. Can`t wait to see what you have next!
